Emergency!  Help save 14000 Cauliflowers in danger of going to waste.

The Ample PLENTIFUL appeal, in conjunction with Social Supermarket Surplus to Purpose, is a crowd funding campaign that asks supporters and consumers everywhere to purchase part of the crop and donate it to Surplus to Purpose’s nonprofit Social Supermarkets.

As of today, 21st May 2025, 14000 fresh Cauliflowers (over ten tonnes) growing in Lincolnshire remain unsold due to lower than expected growth through lack of rain. They are not wanted by supermarkets and if nothing is done they will go for animal feed, to landfill or be ploughed back into the fields.

Just £5 buys 10 cauliflowers which go directly to local communities and supports families through the Surplus To Purpose social supermarket network. £10 is enough for 25 Cauliflowers, or £250 for a whole pallet.

Leon Aarts, Co-Founder of Ample, checks out the fresh farm produce

Anyone can take part and make a difference, ensuring that nutritious fresh food is rescued and transported to where it is needed most, whilst farmers get paid a fair price.

Adam Smith, Founder of Surplus To Purpose, said,

“Communities are demanding British-grown fruit and vegetables at a price they can afford. People across all the commutes we serve are struggling to put nutritious food on their tables, whilst so much edible food is wasted. By contributing to the appeal, your donation will help us to stop waste and feed bellies, not bins!"

“At Surplus To Purpose, we’re all about empowering people and giving them back their sense of dignity. Our customers pay affordable prices for great quality food, which enables us to pay the bills and continue our important work. Ample’s campaign is a win-win solution; families get access to quality produce, growers get the value for their harvest and Surplus To Purpose is able to continue its efforts to stop waste. I encourage you to give generously.”
