What an inspiring day with the NHS Chef Mentoring Programme! I had the pleasure of attending the final day to present about Ample and our mission to create a more sustainable food system.
It was fantastic to meet Philip Shelly and Timothy Radcliffe (both on LinkedIn!), who are championing the NHS's commitment to become a Net Zero organisation. A conscious approach to food purchasing is a huge piece of this puzzle, and it’s being led brilliantly by Phil and Tim.
Our co-founder, Leon, spoke passionately about Ample's mission and the amazing farm surplus food we rescue. The NHS chefs absolutely loved both the food we sampled and the incredible impact they realised they can have by including it on their menus!
Using farm surplus helps in so many ways:
⬇️ Reducing emissions and food waste.
🌱 Minimising the need for chemicals and fertilisers on the land.
🤝 Ensuring farmers get paid fairly for the food they have grown.
We strongly believe that to build a fair, sustainable, and just food system, we must include and appreciate everyone—from the field to the plate. You can't have great food without a great and thriving farming community.
A huge thank you to the NHS for their commitment to a greener future!
